Our Story
O'Kelly Chapel Missionary Baptist Church was founded in 1813 by African American families during the Slavery Era, when African-Americans did not have the freedom to worship. O'Kelly Chapel is a testament of their faith and a monument of their courage and tenacity. The Brush Arbor Meeting Place - believed to be beside a running spring beneath the arbor of trees just over the hill of our current church. The cemetery sits on the old church site and has slaves buried dating back to the early 1800's. Brush Arbor to Church Home - the first parcel of land was given by Dr. F.L. O'Kelly on February 15, 1882. On November 5, 1902, his wife, Sara D. O Kelly sold the congregation two additional acres for $24 to build a church. After purchasing the land, the church was named "O Kelly Chapel Colored Church. The Modern Era - November 1953 Rev. E.D. Harris served as pastor and lead the congregation with construction of the current church and members moved in January 1969. Our church has been led by seven pastors since Rev Harris retired in 1988. Today - Our current Pastor, Brandon Green, has since been our Shepherd since the fall of 2019. Under his leadership, O’Kelly continues to be instrumental leading souls to the Lord.

Pastor Brandon Green
Pastor Brandon Green is a living testimony of “unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required.” (Luke 12:48 KJV). As a humble servant of the Lord, who has been gifted insightful wisdom, exceptional leadership abilities, and an undeniable fount of love, the Lord has used him mightily in His service – within the church, the education of youth, and in the community.
A native of Covington, GA, Pastor Brandon Green entered this world on January 25, 1980, to the late Charlie Green and Harriet Green. He is the eldest brother of Brian and Bradley Green. His deep knowledge and love of the Lord was honed by spiritually devoted parents and grandparents and has never waivered.

Pastor Green is a 2011 graduate of Mercer University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood/Special Education. He is an employee of the Newton County School System as a second-grade teacher. Currently, he is pursuing his Master’s Degree in Education at Augusta University.
Although passionate about his teaching career, Pastor Green’s strongest desire is teaching and preaching the word of God. He is a third-generation preacher that accepted Christ as his savior at the tender age of seven. He accepted his call to the ministry in 2007 and licensed to ministry in 2008. He was ordained in 2015. He was appointed lead pastor of the O’Kelly Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Loganville, GA on September l, 2019.
